How much does CTS Hochschule Münster (formerly PTH Münster) cost for international students?
CTS Hochschule Münster charges no tuition. Fully enrolled students pay an administrative fee, with no separate rate for non-EU students.
| Item | Cost for international students |
|---|---|
| Administrative fee, fully enrolled students (Licentiate, doctorate) | 200 EUR per semester |
| Late re-registration | 50 EUR extra |
The university publishes no semester contribution, and no semester ticket or Deutschlandticket is included.
The low fees do not replace the proof of funds. For your visa you still need 11,904 EUR for the year (2026, Federal Foreign Office), usually in a blocked account, and the money has to be transferred months before the semester starts.
What are the application deadlines?
| Degree | Intake | Deadline (non-EU) |
|---|---|---|
| Theology of Spirituality (Lic. theol.) | Winter (October) or summer (April) | No fixed deadline |
The university publishes no application deadline and has no separate process for international applicants. You apply directly to the university. Because a student visa takes time, apply several months before the semester starts and confirm your start date with the university at info@cts-hochschule.de.
The Licentiate is a four-semester postgraduate degree for graduates of a full degree in Catholic theology. Each semester includes compulsory on-site colloquium weekends in Münster (in winter 2026/27: 16–17 October and 29–30 January). Teaching is in German; the university does not publish a required German level, so ask before you apply. After the Licentiate you can continue to a doctorate in the Theology of Spirituality, run with the Pontifical Theological Faculty Teresianum in Rome.
How many programmes are taught in English?
CTS Hochschule Münster offers no English-taught programmes. All teaching is in German, and the website is in German only.
It offers 1 degree programme, the postgraduate Licentiate in the Theology of Spirituality (Lic. theol., 4 semesters), plus a doctorate that builds on it and certificate courses.
Some lectures are held in the evening and some are offered digitally, while only the colloquium weekends are compulsory on site. A student visa requires full-time study in Germany, so confirm with the university that you can study the Licentiate full-time on site in Münster before you apply.
