It charges no tuition fees; every student pays a semester contribution of 408.80 EUR (winter 2026/27), which includes the Deutschlandsemesterticket. How much does Protestant University of Applied Sciences Berlin cost for international students?

The EHB currently charges no tuition fees for its Bachelor's and consecutive Master's programmes, for international students as well. Every student pays the semester contribution.

The part-time continuing-education Master of Social Work (human rights) charges its own fees and is not open to student-visa applicants. Whatever the tuition position, the proof of funds still applies: for the student visa you need to show 11,904 EUR for the year, usually in a blocked account, and that money has to be transferred months before the semester starts.

What are the application deadlines?

Applicants with a school-leaving certificate or university degree from abroad apply via uni-assist; the application period usually opens about six weeks before the deadline. Deadlines are cut-off dates.

The Master's in Counselling in Social Work no longer takes applications from winter 2026/27. Upload your documents early so uni-assist can tell you about anything missing before the deadline, and leave enough time for the visa.

How many programmes are taught in English?

The EHB does not offer any degree programme taught in English. All Bachelor's and Master's programmes are taught in German.

If your school-leaving qualification is from abroad, you need to prove German at about C1 level when you apply, for example DSH-2, TestDaF with level 4 in all four parts, telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule or DSD II. For Bachelor's programmes you can apply with completed B2 and hand in the higher certificate after enrolment; admission is then conditional. The EHB does not run its own language tests.

About Protestant University of Applied Sciences Berlin

The Evangelische Hochschule Berlin is a state-recognised university of applied sciences run by the Protestant Church in Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia (EKBO). Its roots go back to 1904 and the women's school of the Inner Mission; it became a university of applied sciences in the early 1970s. Its campus is in Berlin-Zehlendorf.

The EHB offers Bachelor's and Master's degrees in social work, childhood education, health and nursing, midwifery and Protestant religious education. Five of them suit international students on a student visa: the Bachelor's in Social Work, Childhood Education and Protestant Religious Education and Diaconia, and the Master's in Protestant Religious and Community Education and in Leadership, Education and Diversity. The dual Bachelor's in Nursing and Midwifery need a contract with a German practice partner, and the Master's in Health/Nursing Vocational Education, the Master of Social Work (human rights) and the part-time religious education Bachelor's are designed to be studied alongside a job, so they are not a route to a student visa.
