Protestant University of Applied Sciences Ludwigsburg for International Students

BEFORE YOU APPLY

The Evangelische Hochschule Ludwigsburg is the state-recognised, church-run university of applied sciences of the Protestant Church in Württemberg. Like state universities in Baden-Württemberg, it charges students from outside the EU and EEA a tuition fee of 1,500 EUR per semester; every student also pays a semester contribution of 239.90 EUR (winter 2026/27). Applications go directly to the EH, for most Bachelor's programmes between 1 May and 15 July (winter). All programmes are taught in German, so you need German at C1 level (DSH-2 or TestDaF 4).

About Protestant University of Applied Sciences Ludwigsburg

The Evangelische Hochschule Ludwigsburg is the state-recognised university of applied sciences of the Protestant Church in Württemberg, founded in 1999. Its campus is in Ludwigsburg, just north of Stuttgart. It trains social workers, educators, nurses, deacons and religious educators.

Eleven of its degrees suit international students on a student visa: the Bachelor's in Social Work, International Social Work, Inclusive and Special Needs Education and Early Childhood Education, the three combined deacon Bachelor's (Diaconal Studies or Religious Education, each with Social Work or International Social Work), and the Master's in Social Work, Diaconal Studies, Religious/Community Education and Early Childhood Education. The training-integrated and dual nursing and childhood education degrees need a contract with a German training provider, and the continuing-education Master's in non-profit management is designed for people in work, so these are not a route to a student visa.
