A German student visa requires a degree programme that has to be studied in Germany, and programmes that can be completed online generally do not qualify (Administrative Court Berlin, 28 November 2025, 11 K 175/25). If you do come to Germany on a student visa for another programme, you need proof of funds of 11,904 EUR for the year, usually in a blocked account.
What are the application deadlines?
| Degree | Intake | Deadline |
|---|---|---|
| Bachelor, all programmes | Any day of the year | No deadline |
EHIP has no semesters or fixed intakes, and one rule applies to all applicants. Documents can follow within a four-week trial period. Foreign school-leaving certificates equivalent to a German one give direct entry; otherwise a Studienkolleg assessment test is required first, and EHIP checks certificates free of charge.
How many programmes are taught in English?
None. EHIP offers 12 Bachelor's programmes (B.A., 180 ECTS), all described in German; International Management includes an English module but is not taught in English. EHIP does not state a required German level, so check the language requirement with EHIP before you apply.
