How much does Dresden University of Applied Sciences cost for international students?
FH Dresden is a private university that receives no state funding, so it charges tuition, and students from outside the EU and EEA pay a higher rate than EU students. For full-time study, non-EU students pay 800 EUR per month (9,600 EUR per year) for a Bachelor's programme and 950 EUR per month (11,400 EUR per year) for a Master's programme. Paying for the whole standard period of study up front lowers this to 775 and 925 EUR per month. On top of tuition there is a one-off enrolment fee of 400 EUR after signing the study contract, and a mandatory semester ticket (Deutschlandsemesterticket), which covers local and regional public transport across Germany. FHD states that there are no other hidden fees; only repeat exams (100 EUR each) and a repeated thesis (1,000 EUR) cost extra.
| Item | Cost for international students |
|---|---|
| Bachelor, full-time (non-EU) | 9,600 EUR per year (800 EUR per month) |
| Master, full-time (non-EU) | 11,400 EUR per year (950 EUR per month) |
| Bachelor / Master, full-time (EU, for comparison) | 620 / 660 EUR per month |
| Enrolment fee (one-off) | 400 EUR |
| Semester ticket (everyone) | About 227 EUR per semester |
Non-EU rates from FHD's latest published fee overview. The semester ticket price is the national Deutschlandsemesterticket rate from winter 2026/27; confirm the exact amount with FHD.
Tuition fees come on top of the proof of funds. For the student visa you still need to show 11,904 EUR for the year, usually in a blocked account, and that money has to be transferred months before the semester starts.
What are the application deadlines?
| Degree | Intake | Deadline |
|---|---|---|
| Bachelor and Master (international applicants) | Winter | 31 July |
| Bachelor and Master (programmes with a summer intake) | Summer | 31 March |
FH Dresden's page for international students sets 31 July as the application deadline, and most programmes start in winter. The general FAQ lists 30 September (winter) and 31 March (summer) as guideline closing dates and says applications are accepted at any time before then. If you need a visa, apply by 31 July at the latest and confirm with the international office (international@fh-dresden.eu).
How many programmes are taught in English?
None. FH Dresden offers no degree programme taught in English; only its short Summer and Winter Schools are taught in English. Its Bachelor's and Master's programmes in business, tourism and event management, digital media and design, social work, and nursing and health management are taught in German, and international applicants must prove German at level B2.
