How much does Erfurt University of Applied Sciences cost for international students?
FH Erfurt charges no tuition, for EU and non-EU students alike, because Thuringia does not charge tuition fees at public universities. Students who exceed the standard period of study by more than four semesters pay a long-term study fee of 500 EUR per semester.
Every student pays the semester contribution of 333.80 EUR: 95 EUR for the Studierendenwerk, 9 EUR for the student council and 229.80 EUR for the semester ticket, which includes the Kulturticket. First-semester students also pay 20 EUR for the thoska student card. Applicants with foreign qualifications apply through uni-assist, which charges 75 EUR for the first application and 30 EUR for each additional programme.
| Item | Cost for international students |
|---|---|
| Bachelor | No tuition fees |
| Master | No tuition fees |
| Semester contribution (everyone) | 333.80 EUR per semester |
| uni-assist application | 75 EUR, plus 30 EUR per additional programme |
| Long-term study (more than 4 semesters over) | 500 EUR per semester |
No tuition does not mean no proof of funds. For the student visa you still need to show 11,904 EUR for the year, usually in a blocked account, and that money has to be transferred months before the semester starts.
What are the application deadlines?
| Degree | Intake | Deadline (non-EU) |
|---|---|---|
| Bachelor and Master (international applicants) | Winter / Summer | No fixed deadline |
FH Erfurt sets no application deadlines for international applicants, who apply through uni-assist all year round; applicants with a German or EU qualification use FH Erfurt's own portal. Eight percent of places in restricted-admission programmes are reserved for international applicants, so places can fill up. If you need a visa, apply several months before the semester starts to leave time for the uni-assist check and your visa appointment, and confirm with internationalapplications@fh-erfurt.de.
