Frankfurt School of Finance & Management for International Students

BEFORE YOU APPLY

Frankfurt School runs its own online application portal rather than uni-assist, but unlike most universities with their own portal, it charges a EUR 100 application fee up front, before your documents are even reviewed. Tuition applies at every level here, since Frankfurt School is a private, state-recognised business school rather than a publicly funded one: EUR 8,200 per semester for the Bachelor in Business Administration and EUR 35,500 in total for the Master in Management, charged the same regardless of nationality. There is no earlier non-EU deadline: the published date of 30 June applies equally to EU and non-EU applicants, so international applicants get no separate cutoff but also no extra lead time built in.

How much does Frankfurt School of Finance & Management cost for international students?

Tuition applies at every level, because Frankfurt School is a private, state-recognised business school (a gGmbH) rather than a publicly funded university, and it is charged identically to EU and non-EU students alike.

There is no state semester contribution in the sense public universities charge one. Instead, students pay a one-time application fee of EUR 100 with every application, and an enrolment fee, due once on joining, that ranges from EUR 400 to EUR 600 depending on the programme.

ItemCost for international students
Bachelor in Business Administration (BSc)EUR 8,200 per semester + EUR 100 application fee + EUR 400 enrolment fee
Master in Management (MSc)EUR 35,500 total (4 semesters) + EUR 100 application fee + EUR 600 enrolment fee

Tuition here is never free, but you still need to show proof of funds for the student visa, about EUR 11,904 for the year, usually parked in a blocked account, separately from whatever you pay Frankfurt School.

What are the application deadlines?

Frankfurt School does not publish a separate, earlier deadline for non-EU applicants: the same date applies regardless of nationality on every programme checked, so there is no earlier cutoff to plan around, but also no later general deadline that international applicants can safely rely on.

How do you apply to Frankfurt School of Finance & Management?

Through Frankfurt School's own online application portal. Frankfurt School does not appear on uni-assist's list of participating universities, so there is no uni-assist account, but the school's own portal is not free either: a EUR 100 application fee applies before your documents are reviewed.

1

Pick your programme and check its language

Most Bachelor's and Master's programmes are taught fully in English; the Bachelor in Business Administration is bilingual, English from the first semester and entirely in English from the fourth.

2

Register in the portal

Submit your application and required documents through Frankfurt School's own online application form, and pay the EUR 100 application fee before review begins.

3

Submit before your deadline

30 June is the published deadline for the main autumn intake on the programmes checked; some programmes may set their own dates, so confirm on the specific programme page.

4

Then start to prepare your visa

Bachelor applicants also complete an online Assessment Centre (mathematics, cognitive test, English test and interview); Master in Management applicants complete an admissions interview. Once you have your admission letter, you can book your visa appointment.

How many programmes are taught in English?

Frankfurt School teaches 15 of its 21 degree programmes fully in English: all five full-time pre-experience Master's programmes (Finance, Management, Real Estate, Financial Technology, Artificial Intelligence & Data Science), all five MBA and Executive MBA programmes, the online Master of Leadership in Sustainable Finance, the doctoral programme, and two of the three Bachelor's programmes (Computational Business Analytics; Management, Philosophy & Economics). The third Bachelor's programme, Business Administration, is bilingual and can be completed entirely in English from the fourth semester onward. The German-only programmes sit mostly at part-time Master's level (Auditing, Mergers & Acquisitions, Banking & Capital Markets Law, Corporate Performance & Restructuring). You can study any of the English-taught programmes without German, though everyday German still helps with housing, part-time work and the authorities.

Which English certificates does Frankfurt School of Finance & Management accept?

Requirements differ sharply by degree level. Bachelor applicants do not submit a certificate at all: English is tested inside Frankfurt School's own online Assessment Centre, and the school follows up individually only if a candidate doesn't meet the bar there. Master's applicants do need a certificate, typically IELTS Academic 7.0 or an equivalent TOEFL score, though this can be waived if your Bachelor's degree was itself taught fully in English.

CertificateTypical range
IELTS Academic7.0 (Master's applicants; not required for Bachelor's)
WaiverBachelor's degree taught fully in English

Bachelor applicants sit an English test inside the Assessment Centre instead of submitting a certificate. Scores are otherwise set per programme, so check the programme page before booking a test.

When does the semester start?

Work backwards from the lecture start rather than the semester start: you want time in Frankfurt before teaching begins, for city registration, a bank account and a room.

SemesterLecture period
Autumn 2026 (BSc intake)Starts 1 September 2026
Autumn 2027 (MSc in Management intake)Starts 23 August 2027

What does it cost to live in Frankfurt am Main?

Frankfurt is one of Germany's most expensive cities for housing. As a private-university student, you may not have the same automatic access to public Studierendenwerk halls that students at Goethe University or Frankfurt UAS have; Frankfurt School instead points students toward its own residence partners, including on-campus options and a partnership with a private student-housing provider.

The monthly payout from your blocked account is transferred to a German current account, which you open after you arrive.

About Frankfurt School of Finance & Management

Founded in 1957 as the Bankakademie and established under its current name in 2007, Frankfurt School of Finance & Management is a private, state-recognised, non-profit business school (gGmbH) holding triple accreditation from AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS, a combination few German schools hold. Its academic focus sits entirely in finance, management, accounting, real estate and financial technology. Its Adickesallee campus, in Frankfurt's Nordend district, puts students a short ride from the European Central Bank, the German stock exchange and the country's largest banks, a proximity reflected in a placement record weighted toward banking and consulting careers. Frankfurt am Main is Germany's financial capital and one of its most international cities, and Frankfurt School also runs smaller study locations in Hamburg and Munich for selected programmes.

Frequently asked questions

Does Frankfurt School use uni-assist?

No. Frankfurt School does not appear on uni-assist's list of participating universities; applications go entirely through the school's own online portal. That also means a EUR 100 application fee applies directly to Frankfurt School, and there is no separate uni-assist document pre-check stage.

Do I need German to study at Frankfurt School?

Not for 15 of the 21 degree programmes, which are taught fully in English, including every full-time Master's, every MBA, and the doctoral programme. Two of the three Bachelor's programmes are English-only and the third is bilingual. Most part-time Master's programmes, though, are German-only, so check the language of instruction of your specific programme first.

What does Frankfurt School require when you enrol?

The standard German set applies: proof of German health insurance, your admission letter, passport and residence documents, and certified copies of your qualifications. The insurance certificate has to come from a German insurer; public student cover costs about EUR 125 per month.

Does an English-taught Bachelor replace the language test?

For Master's applicants, yes: an English-taught Bachelor's degree can waive the certificate requirement. Bachelor applicants don't submit a certificate at all, since English is tested inside Frankfurt School's own Assessment Centre.

What is the tuition and what does it cover?

Tuition applies at every level and is the same for every nationality: EUR 8,200 per semester for the Bachelor in Business Administration, and EUR 35,500 in total for the Master in Management, both on top of a one-time EUR 100 application fee and an enrolment fee of EUR 400 to 600 depending on the programme.
