How much does University of Applied Sciences for Finance and Management Bonn cost for international students?
HFM is a private university, so every programme has its own tuition fee, paid in quarterly instalments and the same for EU and non-EU students. More than 90 percent of students are supported by their employer, often through payment of the fees.
| Programme | Cost for international students |
|---|---|
| Finance (B.Sc.) | 424 EUR per month, 17,808 EUR in total (7 semesters; the 8th semester is free) |
| Banking & Sales (B.A.) | From about 424 EUR per month; confirm with HFM |
| Business Management (B.A.) | Ask HFM |
| Banking & Finance (M.Sc.) | 570 EUR per month, 13,680 EUR in total (4 semesters) |
| Business & Transformation Management (M.A.) | Ask HFM |
From the 9th semester of the Bachelor's, fees continue at the quarterly rate in force at enrolment. HFM publishes no separate semester contribution or transport ticket.
Distance learning is generally not a basis for a German student visa: the Administrative Court Berlin ruled on 28 November 2025 (11 K 175/25) that it does not meet the requirements for a study residence permit. Paying tuition does not replace the proof of funds either: for a student visa you would still need to show 11,904 EUR for the year, usually in a blocked account.
What are the application deadlines?
HFM publishes one set of dates for all applicants and admits without a numerus clausus. All programmes are distance learning: students work on the university's online campus, choose between one-day classes at regional study centres or evening online sessions, and sit exams at the study centres in January and July. A two-day introduction takes place in Bonn at the start.
| Degree | Intake | Deadline |
|---|---|---|
| Finance (B.Sc.) | Winter (introduction in Bonn mid-September) | 31 August |
| Finance (B.Sc.) | Summer (introduction in Bonn mid-March) | 28 February |
| Other Bachelor's and Master's programmes | Winter / summer | See the programme page |
Because the programmes are distance learning alongside work, applicants who need a student visa should check with HFM and the German mission before applying.
How many programmes are taught in English?
HFM offers one degree programme taught in English, and only through a partner university: International Finance (B.Sc.), a dual degree for students of Xi'an University of Finance and Economics in China. It cannot be applied for directly; students complete the first six semesters at the partner university and can spend the last two in Bonn.
All other HFM programmes are taught in German.
