How much does Stuttgart Technology University of Applied Sciences (HFT) cost for international students?
HFT Stuttgart charges students from outside the EU and EEA a tuition fee of 1,500 EUR per semester for Bachelor's and consecutive Master's programmes, because Baden-Württemberg requires it at its public universities. Students from the EU and EEA do not pay it, and neither do holders of a German university entrance qualification or some holders of a German residence permit. The two continuing-education Master's programmes charge their own programme fee instead of the non-EU fee.
| Item | Cost for international students |
|---|---|
| Bachelor's (non-EU) | 1,500 EUR per semester |
| Master's, consecutive (non-EU) | 1,500 EUR per semester |
| MSc International Project Management (full-time) | 15,000 EUR for the programme (6,000 + 6,000 + 3,000 EUR) |
| MSc Smart City Solutions (full-time) | 10,000 EUR for the programme (4,000 + 4,000 + 2,000 EUR) |
| Semester contribution (winter 2026/27) | 191.50 EUR per semester |
The semester contribution includes no public transport ticket; its largest part, 96.50 EUR, funds the Studierendenwerk Stuttgart. The 650 EUR second-degree fee applies only to a further degree after a German Bachelor's or Master's. The programme fees come from HFT's fee statutes from 2022 (International Project Management) and 2019 (Smart City Solutions), so confirm them for your intake.
Paying tuition does not replace the proof of funds. For the student visa you still need to show 11,904 EUR for the year, usually in a blocked account, and that money has to be transferred months before the semester starts.
What are the application deadlines?
Most programmes publish one date for all applicants, EU and non-EU. Three Master's programmes set an earlier date for non-EU applicants. The English-language and continuing-education Master's programmes take applications directly through the programme.
| Degree | Intake | Deadline |
|---|---|---|
| Bachelor's | Winter | 15 July (application period opens in May) |
| Bachelor's | Summer | 15 January (application period opens in November) |
| Master's, German-taught | Winter | 15 June or 15 July, by programme (Urban Planning: 15 June for non-EU applicants) |
| Master's, German-taught | Summer | 15 December or 15 January, by programme; several programmes admit only in winter |
| MSc Smart City Solutions, MSc Photogrammetry and Geoinformatics | Winter | 15 April (non-EU applicants) |
| MSc Software Technology | Winter / summer | 28 February / 31 August |
| MSc International Project Management | Winter / summer | 28 February or 15 July / 31 August or 15 January |
| International Master of Interior Architectural Design (IMIAD) | Winter | 15 June |
The Master's dates follow the latest published cycle, so confirm the current deadline on your programme page before applying.
How many programmes are taught in English?
HFT Stuttgart offers four Master's programmes taught in English:
| Programme | Note |
|---|---|
| International Project Management, MSc | Continuing education, own programme fee |
| Smart City Solutions, MSc | Continuing education, own programme fee |
| Photogrammetry and Geoinformatics, MSc | Consecutive Master's |
| Software Technology, MSc | Consecutive Master's |
All Bachelor's programmes require German. The International Master of Interior Architectural Design (IMIAD) is taught in German and English, with only the second semester at a partner university fully in English, and requires German at DSH-2 or TestDaF 4, so it is not counted here.
