What are the application deadlines?

Biomedicine (B.Sc.)1 OctoberNo deadline
Physician Assistant (B.Sc., M.Sc.)1 October, from 2027No deadline

HMU Erfurt accepts applications at any time, for all applicants. Medicine and Dentistry use the university's own selection procedure (a written test and an interview); the other programmes include an admission interview. Applicants with a foreign school-leaving certificate or degree first need a uni-assist preliminary review (VPD), which takes about four to six weeks; the VPD alone is not an application, so you then apply through HMU's own portal. If you need a visa, apply several months before your intended start.

How many programmes are taught in English?

None. All programmes are taught in German. HMU does not state a German level for most programmes, so ask admissions which certificate it accepts before you apply. Full-time programmes: Human Medicine and Dentistry (state examination), Bachelor's in Psychology, Biomedicine and Physician Assistant, and Master's in Psychotherapy and Physician Assistant. The two Physician Assistant programmes start in October 2027 and are still going through state recognition, and the Bachelor's requires completed training in a health-care profession. Medical Education (Bachelor's and Master's) and Periodontology (Master's, for licensed dentists) are part-time only, which does not support a student visa.
