Nothing in tuition applies to Bachelor's and consecutive Master's programmes, for EU and non-EU students alike, because Hesse funds Hochschule RheinMain as a public University of Applied Sciences.

Every student pays a semester contribution, which is not a fee for teaching. The largest part covers the Deutschlandticket for nationwide public transport, and the total is set each semester, so it changes.

No tuition does not mean no proof of funds: for the student visa you still need to show about 992 EUR per month for the year, usually in a blocked account, and that money has to be transferred months before the semester starts.

These deadlines apply the same way to EU and non-EU applicants with foreign qualifications: Hochschule RheinMain uses its uni-assist route regardless of nationality.

You apply through uni-assist, the central application service for international students, not through a university-only portal. Applicants with a foreign school or university entrance qualification must use uni-assist regardless of nationality, and uni-assist's processing fee applies (around 75 EUR for the first application, 30 EUR for each further one).

Hochschule RheinMain runs about 3 programmes fully in English, out of more than 70 degree programmes in total, concentrated in the Wiesbaden Business School (International Management, Bachelor's and Master's) and in Design Computer Science Media (Screen Arts, Master's). Most of the catalogue, including nearly all Bachelor's programmes, is taught in German. You can study the English-taught programmes without German, though everyday German still helps with housing, part-time work and the authorities.

Hochschule RheinMain's central application materials are almost entirely about German proficiency, not English: applicants need German at level B2 to apply and level C1 to enrol, since nearly all programmes are German-taught. English proof is named as an alternative route for two specific Master's programmes.

Work backwards from the lecture start rather than the semester start: the winter semester formally begins on 1 October, but lectures start about two weeks later, and you'll want to be in Wiesbaden or Rüsselsheim before that for city registration, a bank account and a room.

A public University of Applied Sciences founded in 1971 as the Wiesbaden University of Applied Sciences, with campuses in Wiesbaden and Rüsselsheim am Main in the Frankfurt Rhine-Main region, one of Germany's strongest economic areas. Its five faculties, Architecture and Civil Engineering, Design Computer Science Media, Applied Social Sciences, Wiesbaden Business School and Engineering, offer more than 70 practice-oriented Bachelor's and Master's programmes with mandatory internships and close industry links.

The Rhine-Main location puts students close to Frankfurt Airport, the European Central Bank and a large concentration of multinational employers, useful for internships and working-student jobs during and after the degree.
