How much does Ansbach University of Applied Sciences cost for international students?
German-taught Bachelor and Master programmes charge no tuition. English-taught programmes are different: since 30 October 2025, students from outside the EU pay 1,000 EUR per semester in them. Bavarian law allows this, and Ansbach introduced the fee by its own regulation. Students who were already enrolled before that date keep studying tuition-free. EU nationals, holders of a German school-leaving certificate and some other groups are exempt. Part-time programmes charge their own fees, which vary by programme.
Every student pays a student services fee of 82 EUR per semester to the Studentenwerk. It does not include a transport ticket. The semester ticket is bought separately from the Nuremberg transport company VAG.
| Item | Cost for international students |
|---|---|
| Bachelor and Master, taught in German | No tuition fees |
| Bachelor and Master, taught in English (non-EU students) | 1,000 EUR per semester |
| Part-time programmes | Set per programme |
| Student services fee (everyone) | 82 EUR per semester |
Low tuition does not remove the proof-of-funds requirement. For the student visa you still need to show 11,904 EUR for the year (2026, Federal Foreign Office), usually in a blocked account.
What are the application deadlines?
| Degree | Intake | Deadline (non-EU) |
|---|---|---|
| Restricted-admission programmes | Winter (October) | 15 July |
| Restricted-admission programmes | Summer (March) | 15 January |
| Open-admission programmes | Winter (October) | 15 September |
| Open-admission programmes | Summer (March) | 1 March |
Ansbach publishes one set of dates for all applicants. There is no separate earlier date for non-EU applicants. Application periods open on 2 May (winter) and 1 December (summer). Deadlines vary by programme depending on admission type. The two English-starting Bachelor programmes begin in the summer semester only, and Smart Energy Systems only in winter.
How many programmes are taught in English?
Five Master programmes are taught fully in English: Applied Biotechnology (M.Sc.), International Product and Service Management (M.Sc.), Science Communication, Sustainable Building Systems and Smart Energy Systems (M.Eng.).
Two Bachelor programmes are taught in English for the first three semesters, then in German: Applied Life Science Technologies (B.Sc.) and Applied Sustainable Engineering (B.Eng.).
