How much does Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences cost for international students?
HSD charges no tuition, for EU and non-EU students alike, because North Rhine-Westphalia does not charge tuition fees at public universities.
Every student pays the semester contribution of 374.81 EUR for winter 2026/27. Of that, 226.80 EUR is the Deutschland-Semesterticket, which covers public transport across Germany.
| Item | Cost for international students |
|---|---|
| Bachelor | No tuition fees |
| Master | No tuition fees |
| Semester contribution (everyone) | 374.81 EUR per semester |
Figures for winter 2026/27.
No tuition does not mean no proof of funds. For the student visa you still need to show 11,904 EUR for the year, usually in a blocked account, and that money has to be transferred months before the semester starts.
What are the application deadlines?
| Degree | Intake | Deadline (non-EU) |
|---|---|---|
| First semester, restricted admission | Winter (October) | 15 July |
| First semester, restricted admission | Summer (March) | 15 January |
| First semester, open admission | Winter (October) | 15 August |
| First semester, open admission | Summer (March) | 15 February |
| Higher semesters | Winter / Summer | 15 September / 15 March |
HSD publishes one set of dates for all applicants; there is no separate earlier date for non-EU applicants. Master's programmes follow the same dates; the English-taught Master's in Mechanical Engineering has restricted admission, so its deadlines are 15 July (winter) and 15 January (summer). Application periods open at the end of May (winter) and the end of November (summer). Applicants with a foreign school-leaving certificate or a foreign Bachelor's degree apply through uni-assist, so apply early to leave time for the uni-assist check and your visa appointment.
How many programmes are taught in English?
HSD offers 1 degree programme taught completely in English: the Master's in Mechanical Engineering. All other programmes are taught in German.
