How much does Kolping University of Applied Sciences cost for international students?
Kolping University is a private, state-recognised university and charges tuition fees. The fees cover everything: there are no registration, exam or change fees and no separate rates for non-EU students. Kolping offers no Master's degrees.
| Item | Cost for international students |
|---|---|
| Bachelor, part-time or dual, 54 months | 330 EUR per month, 17,820 EUR in total |
| Bachelor, part-time or dual, 42 months | 410 EUR per month, 17,220 EUR in total |
| Bachelor, part-time or dual, paid at once | 16,700 EUR |
| Social Work (B.A.), full-time, 36 months | 480 EUR per month, 17,280 EUR in total, or 16,245 EUR paid at once |
| Semester contribution | None |
Kolping has no Studierendenwerk or student body contribution, so there is no semester ticket or Deutschlandticket. Kolping does not say which year these fees apply to. Confirm the current fees with the student advisory service.
A German student visa requires a degree programme that has to be studied in Germany. Programmes that can be completed online generally do not qualify (Administrative Court Berlin, 28 November 2025, 11 K 175/25). Kolping's full-time Social Work programme is taught in person in Cologne. If you come to Germany on a student visa, you need proof of funds of 11,904 EUR for the year (2026, Federal Foreign Office), usually in a blocked account.
What are the application deadlines?
| Degree | Intake | Deadline (non-EU) |
|---|---|---|
| Bachelor, all programmes | Winter (October) | No fixed deadline |
Kolping publishes no application deadline, so admission is rolling. Studies start in October only. If you need a student visa, apply early to leave enough time for the visa process, and confirm your start date and the rules for foreign school certificates with the student advisory service (studienberatung@kolping-hochschule.de). You apply through Kolping's online application form and need German at level B2 or higher.
How many programmes are taught in English?
Kolping University offers no English-taught programmes. All 8 Bachelor's programmes in health, care, education, psychology and social work are taught in German, and you need German at level B2.
Only Social Work (B.A.) is offered as a full-time, in-person programme in Cologne (Monday to Thursday). The other programmes are part-time with live online classes and in-person days in Cologne every six to eight weeks, or dual programmes that need an employer in Germany.
