MUDT is a private university, so "tuition-free" does not apply here the way it does at a public German university: every student pays tuition, and the amount is the same for EU and non-EU applicants alike. There is no reduced or waived rate for either group.

Tuition for all Bachelor and Master programmes is 4,800 EUR per semester (9,600 EUR per year). To secure a place, applicants pay a 600 EUR enrolment fee in advance together with the first semester's fee; the enrolment fee is then credited against that first semester's tuition. MUDT does not publish a separate semester contribution of the kind public universities charge for the Deutschlandticket and student services, so no such figure appears here.

Paying tuition does not remove the visa's own proof-of-funds requirement. For the student visa you still need to show about 11,904 EUR for the year, usually in a blocked account, on top of whatever you pay MUDT directly.

MUDT publishes one application deadline per intake and does not distinguish between EU and non-EU applicants. Because a document check and an interview both sit between application and the conditional offer, applying close to the deadline leaves little room for a visa appointment before the semester starts.

All 5 of MUDT's programmes are taught fully in English: four Bachelor of Engineering degrees (Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Digital Industrial Engineering, and Data Science and Artificial Intelligence) and one Master of Engineering (Data Science & AI). There is no German-taught alternative, so every applicant studies in English, though everyday German still helps with housing, part-time work and the authorities.

A B2 level is the minimum to start at MUDT, and the accepted list is broader than at most German universities: IELTS, TOEFL iBT, TOEFL ITP, Pearson Test of English Academic, Cambridge English, TOEIC and Duolingo all qualify. MUDT also waives the certificate for native English speakers, applicants from a majority English-speaking country, or anyone with a degree that was taught in English, without restricting that waiver to a fixed list of countries the way many public universities do.

MUDT publishes intake months rather than a full academic calendar, so plan around the programme start date rather than a separate lecture start: both fall in the same month for a new student. Work backwards from October (or April) to leave time for city registration, a bank account and a room. Bachelor programmes run 7 semesters, the Master 4 semesters.

Munich is consistently among the most expensive German cities to live in, and MUDT is a small, newly founded private university rather than a public one with a Studierendenwerk-backed halls system of its own. MUDT instead partners with a private residence, REVO Munich, a few minutes from campus, and publishes its own indicative city living-cost range separately.

A small, newly founded private University of Applied Sciences, state-recognized in Bavaria since April 2025 after a founding process that began in 2022. MUDT focuses entirely on digital technology: cyber security, software engineering, digital industrial engineering, and data science and artificial intelligence, taught only in English and only on-site. Its campus sits inside Siemens' own Neuperlach site in Munich, which gives students day-to-day proximity to one large industry partner rather than a wide research university's breadth; three of its five programmes hold ZEvA accreditation, with the remainder expected in October 2026.
