How much does Munich Business School cost for international students?

MBS is a private university and charges tuition for the whole programme. Tuition is the same for EU and non-EU students; only the one-off enrolment fee is higher for non-EU students. You can pay per semester or in monthly instalments.

Bachelor International Business (7 instalments)6,960 EUR per semester (1,160 EUR per month), 48,720 EUR in total
Master's programmes (3 semesters)8,580 EUR per semester (1,430 EUR per month), 25,740 EUR in total
MBA General Management (2 semesters)16,000 EUR per semester, 32,000 EUR in total

Application fee60 EUR
Deposit when you sign the study contract1,990 EUR (deducted from your first tuition instalment)
Learning materialsUp to about 150 EUR per semester

MBS does not list a separate semester contribution. If you study longer than the standard period, MBS charges an extra 10% of the tuition per semester. A 1,000 EUR early-bird discount applies if your complete application arrives by 15 October (spring start) or 15 February (September start). MBS also offers partial scholarships: 10 to 50% on the first two Bachelor semesters, up to 4,000 EUR for Master's students and up to 2,000 EUR for MBA students.

Before MBS issues your visa invitation letter, you pay the enrolment fee and the deposit, so non-EU students pay about 3,480 EUR in advance. Tuition fees come on top of the proof of funds: for the student visa you still need to show 11,904 EUR for the year, usually in a blocked account, and that money has to be transferred months before the semester starts.

Fees as published by MBS in October 2026. Please confirm the current amounts with MBS before you sign your study contract.

What are the application deadlines?

MBS accepts applications all year round, at most one year before your start, and places are limited. If you need a visa, apply at least four months before your programme starts. Applicants from China, India and Vietnam need an APS certificate and should allow one extra month.

How do you apply to Munich Business School?

1

Apply online

Submit your application through the MBS online application and pay the 60 EUR application fee. You need a CV, your certificates and transcripts and your motivation answers. Proof of English can follow later, by the start of your studies. MBA applicants also need two employer references and at least two years of work experience after their first degree.

2

Take part in the interview

Suitable applicants are invited to a personal interview of about 30 to 45 minutes, online or on campus. Master's interviews may include a short case study. MBS usually sends its decision within about a week.

3

Sign the study contract

If you are accepted, sign and return your study contract within the deadline in your offer (two weeks for Master's and MBA). Pay the 1,490 EUR enrolment fee and the 1,990 EUR deposit to secure your place.

4

Get your visa letter

Send MBS a copy of your passport details page. MBS then issues a visa invitation letter for your student visa application. If you studied in China, India or Vietnam, get your APS certificate first; some Indian applicants also need a dMAT result.

5

Enrol before the start

Before classes begin, hand in original or certified copies of your certificates and English test, and the enrolment confirmation from a German public health insurer. Without proof of health insurance you cannot enrol.

How many programmes are taught in English?

MBS offers 7 degree programmes taught fully in English on its Munich campus:

  • Bachelor International Business, English Track (7 semesters, start in February or September). The same degree also has a Bilingual Track taught about 70% in German.
  • Master International Business, with 7 concentrations to choose from and a dual-degree option (start in February or September)
  • Master Innovation and Entrepreneurship
  • Master International Marketing and Brand Management
  • Master Sports Management and Media
  • Master in Finance (September start only)
  • MBA General Management (12 months, at least two years of work experience required)

Master's programmes last 18 months, including a semester abroad or an internship. The Doctor of Business Administration is also taught in English, but it is a part-time programme taken alongside a job and is not suitable for a student visa. The Pre-Bachelor and the online Pre-Master are preparatory courses, not degrees.

About Munich Business School

Munich Business School was founded in 1991 as the Europäische Betriebswirtschafts-Akademie (eba), the first private university in Bavaria, and took its current name in 2003. In 1999 it became the first private university to receive permanent state recognition from the Bavarian Ministry of Science, so its degrees count the same as those of state universities. It also holds institutional accreditation from the German Council of Science and Humanities.

MBS specialises in business administration, from the Bachelor International Business to Master's, MBA and doctoral programmes. In academic year 2025 it had 1,085 students from 76 countries, about 55% of them international. Classes are small and attendance is mandatory, and most programmes include a semester abroad at one of more than 70 partner universities. The campus is in west Munich, close to Westendstraße U-Bahn station.
