How much does Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences cost for international students?
Ostfalia charges no tuition fees for its regular Bachelor's and Master's programmes, for German and international students alike. Every student pays a semester contribution, which depends on the campus. Bachelor's applicants with a foreign school-leaving certificate also pay the uni-assist application fee.
| Item | Cost for international students |
|---|---|
| Regular Bachelor's and Master's | No tuition fees |
| Semester contribution (Wolfenbüttel, Wolfsburg, Suderburg) | 472.80 EUR per semester (75 EUR administration + 150 EUR Studentenwerk + 21 EUR student body + 226.80 EUR Deutschlandsemesterticket) |
| Semester contribution (Salzgitter) | 434.80 EUR per semester (75 EUR administration + 112 EUR Studentenwerk + 21 EUR student body + 226.80 EUR Deutschlandsemesterticket) |
| uni-assist application fee (Bachelor) | 75 EUR |
| Automotive Service Technology and Processes (M.Eng., English) | 1,400 EUR registration + 4,900 / 4,900 / 3,900 EUR tuition for semesters 1 to 3 (15,100 EUR in total), plus 246 EUR student services fee per semester |
| Long-term study fee (Lower Saxony) | 500 EUR per semester, only for students who are subject to it |
Online and continuing-education programmes pay a lower semester contribution without the ticket (246 EUR, or 208 EUR in Salzgitter).
No tuition does not mean no proof of funds. For the student visa you still need to show 11,904 EUR for the year, usually in a blocked account, and that money has to be transferred months before the semester starts.
What are the application deadlines?
Applicants with a school-leaving certificate from outside Germany apply for Bachelor's programmes via uni-assist, which must receive your complete documents by the deadline. Graduates of a state-recognised German Studienkolleg, and applicants with a uni-assist VPD not older than two years, apply directly through Ostfalia's online portal. Master's applications always go directly through the Ostfalia portal.

How many programmes are taught in English?
Almost all of Ostfalia's degrees are taught in German. One full degree programme is taught entirely in English: the Master of Engineering Automotive Service Technology and Processes (ASTP) at the Wolfsburg campus. ASTP is a full-time, on-campus programme of three semesters (90 ECTS) that starts each winter semester and includes a compulsory internship in a German company. It is a fee-based continuing-education Master's: you need a Bachelor's degree in a related technical field (normally 210 ECTS), at least one year of relevant work experience and English at B2 level. No German certificate is needed to apply, but you must reach German B1 before registering your Master's thesis; ASTP offers a free German course for this.
Ostfalia also offers the English-taught M.Sc. Sustainability and Risk Management, but it is an online, part-time programme for working professionals and is not suitable for a student visa. The Digital Technologies M.Sc., run jointly with TU Clausthal, is taught mainly in German, with only a restricted catalogue of English modules.
