How much does Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg cost for international students?
OVGU does not charge tuition fees for most Bachelor's and Master's programmes, for international students as well. Every student pays the semester contribution, which is an administration fee, not tuition.
| Item | Cost for international students |
|---|---|
| Tuition (most Bachelor's, Master's and Medicine) | None |

| – of which Studentenwerk Magdeburg | 90.00 EUR |
| – of which Deutschlandsemesterticket | 226.80 EUR |

The semester contribution includes the Deutschlandsemesterticket, valid on local and regional public transport across Germany. Whatever the tuition position, the proof of funds still applies: for the student visa you need to show 11,904 EUR for the year, usually in a blocked account, and that money has to be transferred months before the semester starts.

Applicants with a school-leaving certificate or Bachelor's degree from abroad apply via uni-assist. Documents must reach uni-assist by the deadline; the portal usually opens on 15 April (winter) and 15 October (summer).

How many programmes are taught in English?
OVGU offers 22 degree programmes that can be studied fully in English: three Bachelor's degrees (Biomedical Sciences, Engineering Science, International Business and Economics) and 19 Master's degrees, including Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Digital Engineering, Data and Knowledge Engineering, Visual Computing, Chemical and Energy Engineering, Process Safety and Environmental Engineering, Advanced Semiconductor Nanotechnologies, Integrative Neurosciences, Economics, Financial Economics, International Management, Marketing, Entrepreneurship and European Studies. Digital Engineering and Data and Knowledge Engineering can be studied in either German or English.
Most English-taught Master's ask for English at C1; the Bachelor's programmes ask for B2. The Bilingual Computer Science Bachelor's starts in English but moves to German courses by the third year, so it is not counted here. Most other Bachelor's programmes are taught in German.
