How much does Palucca University of Dance Dresden cost for international students?
Palucca does not charge tuition for the BA Dance. The Master's programmes charge a study fee per semester, which applies to all students, not only those from outside the EU. Every student also pays a semester contribution.
| Programme (winter 2026/27) | Cost per semester |
|---|---|
| BA Dance | No tuition; 383.33 EUR semester contribution (112.73 EUR Studentenwerk, 6 EUR student body, 264.60 EUR Deutschlandsemesterticket) |
| MA Choreography | 608.33 EUR (225 EUR study fee + 383.33 EUR semester contribution) |
| MA Dance Teacher (part-time) | 868.73 EUR (750 EUR study fee + 118.73 EUR contribution, no ticket) |
| Application fee | 50 EUR per application |
Saxony was discussing a bill to introduce tuition fees of 1,500 EUR per semester for non-EU students, which had not been put to a vote as of October 2026.
Whatever the tuition position, the proof of funds still applies. For the student visa you need to show 11,904 EUR for the year, usually in a blocked account, and that money has to be transferred months before the semester starts.
What are the application deadlines?
Palucca runs its own admission procedure through its application portal; there is no uni-assist step. Each application costs a 50 EUR fee. All programmes start in the winter semester only.
| Programme | Intake | Application period and dates |
|---|---|---|
| BA Dance | Winter 2027/28 | Portal open 1 January – 7 February 2027; video aptitude test result by 8 March 2027; entrance exam in Dresden 9–11 April 2027 |
| MA Choreography (every two years) | Winter 2028/29 | Portal dates not yet published |
| MA Dance Teacher (part-time) | Winter 2027/28 | Portal open 11 January – 5 March 2027; entrance exams arranged individually by the end of April |
For the BA Dance, you must be under 20 when you begin the first or second semester. The selection has two steps: an online video aptitude test, then an on-site entrance exam in classical, modern and contemporary dance and improvisation. If you need a visa to travel to the entrance exam, apply for a prospective student (applicant) visa in good time.
How many programmes are taught in English?
Two degree programmes are taught in English and can be studied full time on a student visa: the BA Dance (three years; English at B1 level, e.g. Cambridge PET, TOEFL iBT or IELTS, by enrolment) and the MA Choreography (English C1 by the end of the second semester; some courses are delivered online; admission every two years).
The MA Dance Teacher is also taught in English (C1), but it is a part-time work-study programme, so it is not suitable for a student visa. No German certificate is required for any of these programmes.
About Palucca University of Dance Dresden
