How much does Private University of Applied Sciences for Business and Technology Vechta/Diepholz (PHWT) cost for international students?
PHWT is a private university and charges tuition. In the dual model the partner company pays the fees; in the classic model you pay them yourself, in monthly instalments. The same rates apply to non-EU students.
| Item | Cost for international students |
|---|---|
| Classic Bachelor's – business and IT programmes | 450 EUR per month |
| Classic Bachelor's – engineering programmes | 475 EUR per month |
| Dual Bachelor's | Paid by the partner company |
| Master's (Sustainability Engineering) | Amount on request from PHWT |
| Semester contribution | Not published, ask PHWT |
Tuition fees come on top of the proof of funds. For the student visa you still need to show 11,904 EUR for the year, usually in a blocked account, and that money has to be transferred months before the semester starts.
What are the application deadlines?
PHWT does not publish an application deadline. Admission is rolling, and you apply through the online form on the PHWT website, where you can choose the dual or the classic model.
| Degree | Start | Deadline |
|---|---|---|
| Bachelor's (dual or classic) | 1 August each year | No fixed deadline |
| Master's (Sustainability Engineering) | 1 April each year | No fixed deadline |
If you need a student visa, apply as early as possible and confirm your start date with PHWT (info@phwt.de), since visa appointments and the blocked account take several months. If you also tick the dual option, partner companies can see your application and may invite you to an interview.
How many programmes are taught in English?
No degree programme at PHWT is taught in English. All programmes are taught in German, and you need German at B2 level when you apply; some programmes have one elective semester taught in English.
Seven Bachelor's programmes can be studied in the classic, full-time model: Business Administration (including a track for tax-office trainees), Business Informatics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics and Industrial Engineering. The Master's in Sustainability Engineering (M.Eng.) is project-based and flexible in time and place, so check with PHWT whether it is suitable for a student visa.
About Private University of Applied Sciences for Business and Technology Vechta/Diepholz (PHWT)
PHWT (Private Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Technik Vechta/Diepholz) is a private, state-recognised, non-profit university of applied sciences founded in 1998. Business programmes are taught in Vechta and engineering programmes in Diepholz, in cooperation with around 200 partner companies in north-west Germany.
Its programmes are built as dual degrees, in which students combine their studies with vocational training at a partner company that pays their fees and a salary. A dual place needs a German training contract and very good German, so it is not a route to a student visa from abroad; international applicants usually study in the classic model and pay the fees themselves.
