How much does Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences cost for international students?
Like all public universities in Baden-Württemberg, RWU charges students from outside the EU a tuition fee of 1,500 EUR per semester, due together with the semester contribution. Exemptions depend mainly on your residence status.
| Item | Cost for international students |
|---|---|
| Tuition, Bachelor's and Master's (non-EU) | 1,500 EUR per semester |
| Semester contribution (everyone) | 224 EUR first semester, 215 EUR from the second semester |
| Second degree | 650 EUR per semester |
The semester contribution includes the Seezeit Studierendenwerk fee (110.50 EUR, with a small share for the local student ticket); a Deutschlandticket is not included. Confirm the current amount with RWU before you pay. Tuition fees do not replace the proof of funds: for the student visa you still need to show 11,904 EUR for the year, usually in a blocked account, on top of the 1,500 EUR per semester you pay the university.
What are the application deadlines?
RWU publishes one set of dates for all applicants. English-taught programmes are applied for directly in the RWU portal (mycampus.rwu.de); German-taught programmes require registration on hochschulstart.de first.
| Programme | Intake | Application period |
|---|---|---|
| B.Eng. Mechatronics, B.Eng. Electrical Engineering & Information Technology, B.Eng. E-Mobility & Green Energy (English-taught or bilingual) | Summer (April) | 1 September – 31 October |
| B.Eng. Mechanical Engineering / International Project Engineering | Summer (April) | 1 December – 15 January |
| M.Sc. Mechatronics, M.Eng. Electrical Engineering & Embedded Systems | Winter (October) | 1 February – 15 April |

Applicants from India, China and Vietnam need an APS certificate. For German-taught programmes, applicants from outside the EU first have their school certificates checked by the Studienkolleg Konstanz. Apply early so you have time for the visa.
How many programmes are taught in English?
RWU offers 3 degree programmes taught fully in English: Mechatronics (B.Eng.), Mechatronics (M.Sc.) and Electrical Engineering & Embedded Systems (M.Eng.).
Three more Bachelor's are taught in English in semesters 1 to 4 and in German in semesters 5 to 7, so you need to learn German during your studies: Electrical Engineering & Information Technology, E-Mobility & Green Energy, and Mechanical Engineering / International Project Engineering (all B.Eng.). English-taught programmes require TOEFL iBT 70, IELTS 6.0 or another B2 certificate; German-taught programmes require DSH-2, TestDaF 4 or C1.
