How much does South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences cost for international students?
South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences charges no tuition fees for Bachelor's and consecutive Master's programmes, for EU and non-EU students alike. Every full-time student pays the semester contribution, which is not a fee for teaching.
| Item | Cost for international students |
|---|---|
| Bachelor and consecutive Master | No tuition fees |
| Semester contribution, Hagen, Iserlohn, Lüdenscheid and Soest (winter 2026/27) | 339.80 EUR (97 EUR social contribution, 16 EUR student body, 226.80 EUR Deutschlandticket) |
| Semester contribution, Meschede campus | 113 EUR (no semester ticket offered) |
| Online continuing-education Master in International Management and Information Systems | 2,200 EUR per semester (part-time, not visa-suitable) |
Other work-integrated continuing-education Master's programmes (taught in German) charge 1,250 to 2,200 EUR per semester. The semester contribution is set each semester, so it changes.
No tuition does not mean no proof of funds. For the student visa you still need to show 11,904 EUR for the year, usually in a blocked account.
What are the application deadlines?
Applicants from outside the EU have earlier deadlines than EU applicants. A 31 July date on a general page does not apply to you. Non-EU applicants to Master's programmes apply through uni-assist; Bachelor applicants apply through the university's online portal.
| Degree | Intake | Deadline (non-EU) |
|---|---|---|
| Bachelor | Winter | 1 March – 15 July |
| Master (most programmes) | Winter | 1 March – 15 July |
| Master (most programmes) | Summer | 1 November – 15 January |
| Advanced Engineering and Engineering Management, M.Sc. | Winter | 15 November – 15 May |
| Advanced Engineering and Engineering Management, M.Sc. | Summer | 15 May – 15 November |
| Informatics and Business, M.Sc. | Winter | 1 March – 1 June |
| Informatics and Business, M.Sc. | Summer | 1 August – 1 December |
| International Management and Information Systems, M.A. | Summer only | 15 July – 15 October |
Most Bachelor's programmes admit first-year students in winter only; from summer 2027 Mechanical Engineering (Iserlohn) also admits in summer. Applications are only possible within the application period, so apply early if you also need a visa.
