How much does Tabor Protestant University of Applied Sciences cost for international students?
Tabor is a private university financed by tuition and donations. Students starting a full-time Bachelor's programme in 2026 pay 2,400 EUR per semester, and this amount stays the same for the whole period of study. No separate rate for non-EU students is published. In the dual programmes the placement employer pays the tuition.
| Item | Cost for international students |
|---|---|
| Bachelor, full-time (start in 2026) | 2,400 EUR per semester (400 EUR per month), including a 150 EUR enrolment fee |
| Administration fee (one-time, when you accept your place) | 75 EUR, offset against the first semester's enrolment fee |
| Deutschlandticket (everyone on campus, from winter 2026/27) | 226.80 EUR per semester |
| Dual Bachelor | Paid by the placement employer |
Exams are included in the tuition. The fee for students starting in 2027 had not been published in October 2026, so confirm it with Tabor (sekretariat@eh-tabor.de).
Tuition fees do not replace the proof of funds. For the student visa you still need to show 11,904 EUR for the year, usually in a blocked account, on top of the tuition you pay the university.
What are the application deadlines?
You apply directly to Tabor by upload or post; uni-assist is not used. The same dates apply to all applicants. Programmes start in mid-September.
| Degree | Intake | Deadline (non-EU) |
|---|---|---|
| B.A. Evangelische Theologie, B.A. Praktische Theologie & Soziale Arbeit (on campus) | Winter (mid-September) | 31 July |
| Dual Bachelor's programmes | Winter (mid-September) | 31 May |
Your application includes the signed application form, CV, school certificates, a one- to two-page motivation letter and, for the on-campus programmes, two reference forms (an English reference form is available). After that you are invited to an interview in person or via Zoom. Places are limited, so apply early, especially if you need a visa.
How many programmes are taught in English?
No programme at Tabor is taught in English. Applicants whose first language is not German need TestDaF level 4 or DSH 2.
Two Bachelor's programmes (8 semesters each) can be studied full time on campus: Evangelische Theologie (Protestant Theology) and Praktische Theologie & Soziale Arbeit (Practical Theology and Social Work). Tabor offers no Master's programmes of its own; Master's routes run through partner universities.
About Tabor Protestant University of Applied Sciences
Tabor (Evangelische Hochschule Tabor) is a private, state-recognised Protestant university of applied sciences in Marburg, Hesse, founded in 1909 and sponsored by the Stiftung Studien- und Lebensgemeinschaft Tabor. It is financed only by tuition and donations, and teaches Protestant theology, practical theology and social work with a strong focus on Christian community life.
Applicants sign Tabor's guidelines ("lebenswert"), submit two references for the on-campus programmes, and have an interview; experience in Christian community or social work is welcome. Besides the two on-campus degrees, Tabor offers dual Bachelor's programmes in which you work at a church or social placement in Germany; these require a placement contract and are not a route to a student visa.
