How much does Ewersbach Theological Seminary cost for international students?

TH Ewersbach is a state-recognised seminary funded by the Union of Free Evangelical Churches in Germany (Bund Freier evangelischer Gemeinden) and charges tuition of 1,250 EUR per semester. No separate rate for non-EU students is published.

Members of a Free Evangelical church can receive a 500 EUR loan per semester, which is waived after three years of work within the church union, and a paid voluntary role at the seminary brings in up to 960 EUR a year; together these can reduce the cost to about 270 EUR per semester. Any further fees are set out in the study contract, so ask the seminary before you sign.

Tuition fees come on top of the proof of funds. For the student visa you still need to show 11,904 EUR for the year, usually in a blocked account, and that money has to be transferred months before the semester starts.

TH Ewersbach publishes no application deadline. Applicants take part in a visitor week and an interview, and the faculty usually decides within about a week of the interview. The seminary asks for documents as early as possible; if you need a visa, apply several months before the semester starts and confirm the timing with the study office.

How many programmes are taught in English?

None. TH Ewersbach offers no degree programme taught in English; teaching is in German. It offers two Bachelor's programmes, Evangelical Theology and Youth, Church and Mission (Jugend-Gemeinde-Mission), which share a common first year, and a Master's in Evangelical Theology, which requires Greek and Hebrew. The Bachelor's in Evangelical Theology includes both biblical languages and prepares for the Master's and for ministry as a pastor or missionary.
