How much does Technical University of Applied Sciences Lübeck cost for international students?
TH Lübeck charges no tuition for its on-campus Bachelor's and Master's programmes, for EU and non-EU students alike, because Schleswig-Holstein does not charge tuition at its public universities. The only programme with a fee is the online Master's in Regulatory Affairs.
| Item | Cost for international students |
|---|---|
| Bachelor | No tuition fees |
| Master, on campus | No tuition fees |
| M.Sc. Regulatory Affairs (online) | 10,000 EUR for the programme (2,500 EUR per semester); online, not visa-suitable |
| Semester contribution (everyone, winter 2026/27) | 394.30 EUR, including 226.80 EUR for the Deutschlandticket and a 60 EUR administration fee |
| Enrolment fee (first enrolment only) | 50 EUR, once |
No tuition does not mean no proof of funds. For the student visa you still need to show 11,904 EUR for the year, usually in a blocked account.
What are the application deadlines?
TH Lübeck publishes one set of dates for all applicants; there is no separate, earlier deadline for non-EU applicants, except for Water Engineering. If you have a foreign degree, you apply through uni-assist, which takes about four to five weeks to check your application before forwarding it, so send it well before the date below. Applicants from China and Vietnam also need an APS certificate.
| Degree | Intake | Deadline |
|---|---|---|
| Bachelor and Master, restricted admission | Winter (application from 1 May) | 15 July |
| Bachelor and Master, restricted admission | Summer (application from 1 November) | 15 January |
| Bachelor and Master, open admission | Winter (application from 1 May) | 31 August |
| Bachelor and Master, open admission | Summer (application from 1 November) | 28 February (29 in a leap year) |

Of the English-taught Master's programmes, Biomedical Engineering and Medical Microtechnology have open admission and Mechanical Engineering has restricted admission. Water Engineering applicants with a foreign Bachelor's degree also register in the programme's pre-application form.
How many programmes are taught in English?
Four Master's programmes are taught in English on campus:
- Biomedical Engineering (M.Sc.)
- Mechanical Engineering (M.Sc.), which also requires German
- Medical Microtechnology (M.Sc.)
- Water Engineering (M.Sc.)
Not counted: the online M.Sc. Regulatory Affairs, which is taught in English but online, so it does not lead to a student visa, and the M.Sc. Applied Information Technology, which switches to English only from the second semester. All Bachelor's programmes are taught in German.
