How much does TU Bergakademie Freiberg cost for international students?

TU Bergakademie Freiberg charges no tuition for EU and non-EU students alike, including for the MBA IBRE. A second degree costs 300 EUR per semester. A bill to introduce tuition fees of 1,500 EUR per semester for non-EU students in Saxony had not been put to a vote as of October 2026.

ItemCost for international students
Bachelor's, Diplom and Master'sNo tuition fees
Semester contribution (everyone)107 EUR per semester (97 EUR Studentenwerk Freiberg + 10 EUR student body)
Second degree300 EUR per semester

The semester contribution is low because it includes no transport ticket: students voted to introduce the discounted Deutschlandticket in 2024 and to abolish it again in 2025. Anyone who wants to travel by public transport buys a regular Deutschlandticket separately.

No tuition does not mean no proof of funds. For the student visa you still need to show 11,904 EUR for the year, usually in a blocked account, and that money has to be transferred months before the semester starts.

What are the application deadlines?

Bachelor's and Diplom applications go through uni-assist, and Master's applications through the TU Bergakademie Freiberg university portal. Master's deadlines are the same for all applicants, and English-language Master's programmes close five months earlier than German-language ones.
