How much does Chemnitz University of Technology cost for international students?
TU Chemnitz charges no tuition fees, for EU and non-EU students alike.
Every student pays the semester contribution of 341.40 EUR for winter 2026/27, of which 226.80 EUR is the Deutschlandsemesterticket for local and regional transport across Germany. The rest is 93.00 EUR for the Studentenwerk, 18.80 EUR for the student body and 2.80 EUR for a student culture ticket.
| Item | Cost for international students |
|---|---|
| Bachelor | No tuition fees |
| Master | No tuition fees |
| Semester contribution (everyone) | 341.40 EUR per semester |
No tuition does not mean no proof of funds. For the student visa you still need to show 11,904 EUR for the year, usually in a blocked account, and that money has to be transferred months before the semester starts.
What are the application deadlines?
| Degree | Intake | Deadline (non-EU) |
|---|---|---|
| Bachelor and Master (international qualifications) | Winter | 15 July |
| Bachelor and Master (international qualifications) | Summer | 15 January |
Applicants with international qualifications apply via uni-assist, which must receive all documents by the deadline; four English-taught Master's programmes use the EduApplication portal instead. The deadlines are the same as for restricted-admission programmes for German applicants, while open-admission programmes for German applicants close later (18 September). Many programmes start in winter only.
How many programmes are taught in English?
The university's application guide names 12 English-taught degree programmes, 1 at Bachelor's and 11 at Master's level, concentrated in engineering, computer science, materials, mathematics and English studies:
