How much does Wedel University of Applied Sciences cost for international students?
FH Wedel is a private, state-recognised university of applied sciences, so it charges tuition fees, set per programme group. The English-taught Master's in IT Engineering has a separate rate for non-EU citizens. Dual study places have different fees, which the partner company pays.
| Item | Cost for international students |
|---|---|
| Master IT Engineering (English-taught, non-EU) | 538 EUR per month (455 EUR for EU citizens) |
| Bachelor (full-time) | 2,010 EUR per semester; monthly instalments of 335 EUR possible from semester 2 |
| Master (full-time, German-taught) | 2,730 EUR per semester; monthly instalments of 455 EUR possible from semester 2 |
| Processing fee (FH Wedel application) | 195 EUR for international applicants (95 EUR for German and EU applicants); based on the fee schedule from 2024, confirm the current amount |
| uni-assist VPD | 75 EUR for the first application, 30 EUR for each further one |
| Semester contribution (winter 2026/27) | 315.80 EUR (89 EUR Studentenwerk Schleswig-Holstein, 226.80 EUR Deutschlandsemesterticket) |
The Deutschlandsemesterticket is mandatory for all students and invoiced by FH Wedel; the Studentenwerk contribution is paid directly to the Studentenwerk.
Paying tuition does not replace the proof of funds. For the student visa you still need to show 11,904 EUR for the year, usually in a blocked account.
What are the application deadlines?
FH Wedel publishes one set of dates for its German-taught programmes, and places are allocated in order of application; there is no restricted admission (NC). For the English-taught Master's in IT Engineering, the published deadlines apply only to applicants who already hold a German residence permit; everyone else is strongly advised to apply about three months earlier so there is time for the visa.
| Degree | Intake | Deadline (non-EU) |
|---|---|---|
| Bachelor and German-taught Master | Winter | 15 September |
| Bachelor and German-taught Master | Summer | 31 March |
| Master IT Engineering | Winter | 15 September for applicants with a German residence permit; others apply about three months earlier |
| Master IT Engineering | Summer | 31 March for applicants with a German residence permit; others apply about three months earlier |
International applicants to IT Engineering without a German entrance qualification first need a uni-assist preliminary review documentation (VPD) with a grade of 3.0 or better, and should allow several weeks for it. You then apply in FH Wedel's applicant portal, pay the processing fee, receive an offer, and accept it by paying the first semester's tuition; the confirmation and study contract can be used for the visa application.
How many programmes are taught in English?
One degree programme is taught in English: the Master's in IT Engineering, with the focus areas Smart Manufacturing or IT Systems & Security. All other programmes are taught in German.
