Weserbergland University of Applied Sciences for International Students

BEFORE YOU APPLY

Weserbergland University of Applied Sciences (HSW) is a private, state-recognised university of applied sciences in Hameln that offers only dual and part-time programmes, all taught in German. In the dual Bachelor's programmes a partner company pays the tuition and employs you; part-time programmes cost 400 to 495 EUR per month. No semester contribution is published. Important for international students: dual study needs an employment contract with a German partner company first, and part-time study generally does not qualify for a German student visa, which requires full-time study.

How much does Weserbergland University of Applied Sciences cost for international students?

Weserbergland University of Applied Sciences (HSW) is a private, state-recognised university of applied sciences and charges tuition, set per programme and paid monthly. In the dual Bachelor's programmes (Business Administration, Business Informatics, Industrial Engineering, Social Work) the tuition is paid by the partner company, which also pays you a training allowance; HSW does not publish the amount (about 2,400 EUR per semester according to mygermanuniversity). The part-time Bachelor's programmes cost 400 EUR per month (Business Administration, Business Informatics, plus a one-time 500 EUR fee for admission and credit recognition) or 490 EUR per month (Social Work, run with Kolping Hochschule; see the study contract for one-time fees). The part-time MBA General Management costs 495 EUR per month over 5 semesters, 14,850 EUR in total excluding the study trip to the USA.

No semester contribution, administrative fee or student ticket is published. HSW does not use uni-assist, and no application fee is published.

A German student visa requires full-time study, so HSW's part-time programmes generally do not qualify. The dual programmes are only open once a German partner company has signed an employment and training contract with you, so they are not a route for applying from abroad without an employer. If you come to Germany on a student visa for another programme, you need proof of funds of 11,904 EUR for the year (2026, Federal Foreign Office), usually in a blocked account.

How many programmes are taught in English?

0. HSW does not offer any degree programme taught fully in English. All Bachelor's programmes and the MBA General Management are taught in German; the MBA requires good English and includes a two-week study stay in the USA.
