WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management for International Students

WHU is a private business school, so tuition applies to every student, EU and non-EU alike, unlike the public universities that make up most of this guide. The Bachelor in International Business Administration costs 9,100 EUR per semester; roughly half of WHU's Bachelor students use a scholarship or another financing option, and BAföG-eligible students can qualify for a full or partial waiver.

On top of tuition, every student pays a separate semester contribution that covers administration, the student body, and (at most German universities) a transport ticket.

Tuition already being charged does not remove the visa's proof-of-funds requirement. For the student visa you still need to show about 11,904 EUR for the year, usually in a blocked account, separately from whatever you pay WHU directly.

For the Bachelor in International Business Administration, WHU uses the same three admission rounds for all nationalities: 31 January, 31 March, and 15 May 2027. Applicants who need a student visa are explicitly advised to apply in Round 1. The four full-time MSc programmes use a different deadline structure: applications run from 15 September 2026 to 31 May 2027, but applicants who require a German student visa must apply by 30 April 2027; EU/EEA citizens and applicants who do not require a student visa may apply until 31 May 2027.

Application fees are programme-specific rather than a single university-wide amount: Bachelor IBA is 0–150 EUR depending on application date; WHU MSc programmes list a 100 EUR application fee.

Through WHU's own online application portal. WHU does not use uni-assist. For the Bachelor in International Business Administration, applications are free through 31 January 2027, cost 75 EUR from 1 February to 31 March 2027 with the published voucher code, and cost 150 EUR from 1 April to 15 May 2027. WHU's MSc programmes have a separate 100 EUR application fee. Admission also runs through WHU's own selection process rather than grades alone: an analytical test, an online assessment, and one-on-one interviews.

WHU offers 5 full-time English-taught Bachelor's and Master's programmes open to new applicants: the Bachelor in International Business Administration and four MSc programmes: Management, International Business, Finance, and Entrepreneurship. Part-time Master's programmes, MBA/EMBA programmes, doctoral programmes, and programmes being phased out are not included in this count.

TOEFL iBT and IELTS Academic are the standard, alongside Cambridge C1 Advanced, and WHU is explicit that only the official score counts, not the TOEFL “MyBest Scores” composite. Applicants who are graduating from a secondary school where the language of instruction is English may be exempt from the test altogether, on upload of a confirmation from the school; this waiver is not limited to a fixed list of English-speaking countries.

The exact score is fixed centrally for the Bachelor programme, unlike universities that set it per programme.

WHU confirms Bachelor studies begin 1 September 2027, with a Welcome Week at the end of August.

WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management is a private business school founded in 1984 on the initiative of the Koblenz Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It runs two campuses, in Vallendar on the Rhine near Koblenz and in Düsseldorf, and focuses on management education with a strong emphasis on entrepreneurship and an international curriculum.

Because it is private, WHU manages its own admissions, tuition, and much of student housing directly, rather than through uni-assist or a public Studierendenwerk, which is the main practical difference an international applicant needs to plan around here.
